Matthew 5:16
“In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”
“That all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.” John 17:21
The Lapeer Church of Christ youth group consists of teens from 7-12 grades. Together, we strive to grow closer to God through our many activities and our Sunday morning and Wednesday evening Bible classes. We have been blessed with a wonderful “teen room” that allows us to have an atmosphere of a student center for young people to feel at home and encourages them to invite their friends to our activities and classes. We strongly encourage unity in our youth group and offer a lot of fun activities throughout the year, which gives them the opportunity to draw closer to each other and invite their friends. These activities include events such as all-night bowling parties, laser tag, going through a corn maze, etc.
Our young people are encouraged to use their talents to honor God by serving others through activities such as raking leaves for members of our congregation, preparing gift boxes for our college students, working at the local Food Bank, hosting the congregation’s Soup Kitchen once a month as well as many other activities held throughout the year. Every other Friday evening from September – May we have our “7/10”, which is where the teens can hang out and have pizza and lots of fun in our teen room on a ‘come and go” basis from 7:00 – 10:00 p.m.
Every year we go on a mission trip which is definitely the highlight of our year’s activities. We choose locations that will inspire our young people to draw close to God and feel honored to serve Him. We have been blessed to go on mission trips in various parts of the country and work with the homeless, autistic & mentally challenged children, do yard work/housework and paint houses for elderly & needy members of a congregation, as well as conduct a Vacation Bible School for a congregation. Our young people grow spiritually and develop life-long friendship with each other and with those they meet along the way.
If you have a young person in the 7th-12th grade, or will have in the near future – we encourage you to come and visit. We enjoy sharing God’s love with everyone and we know you will find it among our teens here at Lapeer.
